Pete's Oma in Germany will be receiving this card...

as a Christmas Greeting from us... it's being mailed soon to Germany!

Thank you, Noella, for the beautiful card sketch (#20) which can be seen over at Creatively Yours.

There is a lot of dimension to this card- the flowers and the shiny crystal buttons are all raised. [Doesn't show well in the photos.]

Additionally, there are LOTS of sparkles ("Stickles" fro SBCH) on the flower petals!

Thanks for checking it out!

Pix at Six...

Here is a LO done with gorgeous Sketch #36 by Noella over at Creatively Yours!

Hope you like it as much as I do. LOL.
I bought the striped patterned paper and the one with the floral geometric medallions on it for 10 cents EACH! I cut and pasted some, and used the stripe as a background, added some beads and "Micro-BeadZ" and VOILA!
Not too crazy, just reflective of Daniel’s overall joie-de-vivre. Love love love this page!!!!
By the way, the beads were ALL adhered with MM Universal Glue. Awesome stuff!
This page was done for a Texture Challenge posted by Mary over at SBCH.

Journaling reads:
Fun Pix from Age 6!

Daniel, I am Mommy to 4, have provided childcare to many and have worked as a pediatric RN. I know children!

Despite all of this, I have never met a child like you.

…EVER!…

*You didn’t sleep the first four years of your life because you were too busy learning.
*It is what it is: there is no pretense about you.
*You have so much joie-de-vivre and enthusiasm! You love life, savouring every moment.
*You slurp up every scrap of knowledge about things that interest you: in ’06, that topic was “Dinosaurs.”
*You are always “game” for new experiences, like riding in the golf cart with the campground administrator on PEI!
*You NEVER forget anything: facts OR promises!
*You know the date of everyone’s birthday.
*You are a visual learner: for example, you’re amazing at puzzles & drawing.
*You are very attached to me… something that makes me extra happy.
*With a 5-year gap between Bry and you, research says you’re like an eldest child.

GEM{S}

Dan-Dan Houdini-Man gems…

**Called the “Fellowship of the Ring” (movie): “The Field Trip of the Ring” when he saw the DVD lying on the table.

** Asked Mommy: “Why does your book say ‘the end?!’”

** On June 14, in the AM, noticed that the calendar said it was “Flag Day” in the US, and told me this. He then asked “WHEN are we going to flag day: After school?” Apparently he thought we should be helping our US friends celebrate the big day! :o)

** Looked in the mirror and said “Mommy, I have big eyebrows!”

Daniel always cracks us up with laughter!!

Glads from our Garden

Took some pics this AM of the beautiful, ruffly Gladioli that grew in our garden from bulbs we purchased at the school fundraiser last year!

Great timing, I need to order again! The flyer just came home (= Vesey's Seeds.)

Anyway, we cut the blooms yest and I am keeping them in a tall vase.
Glads are my fave (bulb) flower... this was the 1st time we ever grew them!

This yr they are NOT in the flyer. Boohoo. I wanted some more to fill up my area over near the fence. We will try getting some new fancy "fluffy" tulips and mid-season ones, I think, this year. They're gorgeous!

Enjoy the "Glad" pics!!

Daniel, my sweet boy...

I took this photo at the (little tiny)"Tremont World's Fair" in 2007.

There was a LOT of shadowing, but Daniel was saying"Take my picture, Mom," and that is so rare that I HAD to take one!

He had just turned 7 in this photo. It is not perfect b/c of all the shadowing but he has his Daddy's smile and face and so I LOVE this picture. Definitely scrap-worthy!!

Hope you enjoy!
A warm TY to Shannon for the totally fun (awesome) "circles" paper! It came all the way from New Mexico!
Journaling reads:
Daniel, I love this Fall 2007 picture of you! I snapped it while we were in the stands at the “Tremont World’s Fair,” watching Kate ride Oakley. You have that look of mischief in your eyes… again! Love you, my little Houdini-man, even if I am silently wondering what you’ll be up to next!!

Rescue-flowers......

Happy Thursday!! Here's a card I made... so much fun... sooo relaxing! Hope you like it.

The flowers on this card have a FUNNY story to them.

On the first day of school Pete and I had to run in and deliver smthg for Noah that I had forgotten to tuck in (I think it was his extra juice cup.) Anyway, as we were walking in, there were ALL these pretty daisy type flowers all lying on and beside the walkway. Weird. They were in the grass too. Of course, there I am picking them up and Pete is laughing at me 'cause I was almost tipping over a bit to do it. (He just shakes his head at a me: I know, I'm nuts. **GRIN**) Anyway, we both picked up a few of these flowers.

They were so pretty, and thrown around as tho' someone had thrown confetti??? They remind me of Barbie for some reason.

Anyway, I gathered a few and Pete helped me (God LOVE that man) and took them home as it had begun to spit rain.

So: That is the story of my pretty card-flowers. They would have been smushed and wet by the rain and people walking on them.

They are "rescue-flowers!!!" Heehee...

Ski Martock! March 2005

THANKS for checking this out, girls!!! I LOVE this LO!!!!

Grade 5

*Info on altering*
[ I am not sure I did Shabby Chic well, but you can decide...] I sooo wish u could see the sparkle of this IRL... Lots of bling, Stickles, buttons, brads, ribbon, lace, all altered.

**Background paper was sanded, inked in 2 colours [mauve and navy] using crushed tissues and then scruffed & inked some more. Allowed to dry x 8 hrs.
**Satin ribbon scraps were stapled to LO beside the pix, then brushed with mauve ink for very faint colour.
**Snow under Kate in small pic was brushed with MM Specialty Glitter-Glaze.
**Lettering was accented with stickles.
**"G" was flipped to become an "a."
**Journaling block altered with purple Slickwriter and ink rubbed onto edges of mauve cardstock.
**Old Avon earring with gemstone repurposed as a floral embellie.
**Petals of flowers accented with Stickles.
**Centre of flower accented with an antiqued-looking brad.
**Upper left corner of LO shows the "wind" coming from a silver button (ie: cloud.)
**Button from Frenchy's has round silver bling piece (Jesse James Button Co.) added and glued in place.
**Wind represented by curlicues made with Stickles. **Pix were scruffed at edges with sandpaper.
**Corners were accented with corner punch.
**Wooden snowflakes, unknown source: first accented with inks ("mashed" onto wood using scrunched tissues,) Glitter-glaze then applied, allowed to dry overnight. Tips were accented with Stickles next day.
**Pam's metal snowflake (TY hon!) inked w/ same 2 colours as paper then accented with MM Scrapbook Colors "Specialty Glaze-Glitter" and allowed to dry overnight.
**Ribbon on snowflake is all scraps. Gemstone is a button from Frenchy's w/ shank cut off.

GREAT CHALLENGE; TY Lynn! Hope you all like this one!
