Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #197

Today I'm pleased to share a new sketch with you from Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

AHSC Sketch #197
Created by Michelle Stewart
 (Digitized buy Brandi Robinson)

I found this a tough sketch so decided to use it as a basic "jumping off point." I made the card below and I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out!

Card created by "Yours Truly"
 using AHSC Sketch #197

I decided that I'd use this card as a Valentine's Day greeting and I placed the sentiment
"Happy Valentine's Day" inside. This one will be for my parents-in-law!
I was very excited that I was able to use a few items from my BasicGrey hoard stash  supplies in creating this card. :)

Supplies:
Cardstock: Glacier- CTMH
Patterned paper: Regatta collection (retired)- CTMH
Water-based dye ink: Glacier - CTMH
Border sticker: Urban Prairie collection- BasicGrey (from my stash)
Large flourish/heart sticker: Urban Prairie collection BasicGrey (from my stash)
Large butterfly- punched and sent to me by my dear friend Lois in BC
Small butterflies punched w/ a small punch purchased from Regal many years ago

The card I created for this sketch is below. :)  I had so much fun with it!
 "Love You" card
created with AHSC sketch #195
I made two of them, very similar to one another, but not identical, of course.  One is a  "Love You" card, the other, a "Thank You" card. I'm going to send the "Love You" card to my parents for Valentine's Day. :)

I love the birds flying off into the distance... so soothing!

Supplies:

Florence paper collection (retired) - CTMH
Saffron cardstock- CTMH
Poppy ink- CTMH
Wood Veneer birds (retired)- CTMH
"Love you" die cut- from a swap, from my stash
Permanent adhesive runner: Ad Tech

Thanks so much for joining me today! Please give the new sketch over at Atlantic Hearts a try! It's a good one!

The guidelines for playing along at AHSC are right HERE.

A new Christmas card!

This month, the challenge at Christmas Cards All Year 'Round was to create a card with  snowflakes on it!

I loved the idea of  snowflakes... What better thing to include on a card made in January here in Nova Scotia than SNOWFLAKES!! We have already had lots of snow. We're about due for another big storm, I think! (I love snowstorms, as long as everyone is here with me, safe and warm.)

Anywhoodles.. here's what I created in response to CCAYR's January challenge!!  :)

Christmas card created

CCAYR
Most of you know I love a clean look for my Christmas cards. I kept it very simple this month and used my Big Shot, too! (I haven't told you this yet, but one of my SB'ing goals for 2017 was to use my tools more-- and to get into the habit of reaching for them as I worked!)

I am very happy with the way this turned out and love the clean and simple look, too!  I made a trio of these cards, and it was very satisfying to have them all done and put away for Christmas in December!

Supplies:

Snowflake: Thin Cuts (retired)- CTMH
White Daisy cardstock: scrap from my stash- CTMH
Black snowflake patterned paper including zip strip: Snowhaven collection (retired)- CTMH
Cranberry cardstock- CTMH
Merry Christmas stamp- unknown brand (from my stash)
Black archival ink- CTMH
Red faux gemstone- Dollarama

Tools:

Big Shot die cutting machine
Snowflake Thin Cuts ( retired)
Fiskars trimmer #Z7183 -  purchased from my CTMH "store"

Hope you like my card: I had so much fun creating it! I absolutely LOVE working on the DT at CCAYR. Why not stop by Christmas Cards all Year 'Round before the end of January, and play along!? Here are the simple guidelines for joining in. There are prizes to be had, of course! ;) And, wouldn't YOU love to have a few Christmas cards made ahead of time?

Really looking forward to seeing you soon over at CCAYR!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #193

There is as wonderful new Sketch up over at Atlantic Hearts this week! Have a peek!

AHSC Sketch #193
 created by Michelle Stewart
(Digitized by Brandi Robinson)

I SOMEHOW had the wrong date written on my Design Team assignment and almost didn't make the deadline for this sketch!! I was horrified at the mistake I'd made on the due date! With a little encouragement from Michelle, (bless her) I was on my way.

I created a card using some very special paper from the BasicGrey "Oh Baby! Girl" collection, which I have had in my stash forever. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the paper I used as a background for this card and decided to really let it shine. It's one of the last pieces of this collection that I had left over, just a scrap, but... Oh, I just love it so much!! There is still a teensy bit of it left, and I will use it on something special-- probably a scrapbook layout that tells yet another family story. (I actually used a larger piece of this beautiful paper on a very special LO right before Christmas. I promise I will show that to you soon-- in another post!!)

Here's my card!
"Thanks" card
 created by Yours Truly
using AHSC Sketch #193 as inspiration
I used the sketch as my "jumping-off point" for this card. As you can see, I didn't follow it exactly. But that's what sketches are "for"-- to act as inspiration!

I decided to create a "Thanks" card as I was in woefully short supply of those. They're very handy... Plus I got to use a brand new CTMH stamp!

Supplies:
Glacier cardstock- CTMH
Patterned paper for background- BasicGrey: Oh Baby! Girl collection
Orange patterned paper strip- CTMH: Hopscotch collection (retired)
Strip of sparkly trim- CTMH Shimmer Trim: Aqua
Thanks stamp-  "All The Thanks" CTMH: B1536
Ink- CTMH: Lagoon, Crystal Blue (retired) and Indian Corn Blue (retired)
Flowers- various types: all from my stash
Flower centres- CTMH: Enamel and glitter duos- "Blue dots"
Echo Park:  "Fall is in the Air" enamel dots
Adhesives- CTMH: Liquid Glass
                   Ad Tech: Permanent Crafter's Tape

And there you have it! Another fun card created with an Atlantic Hearts Sketch!

Why not pop on over to AHSC and join us? The guidelines for joining in are simple and easy to follow. Love to see you there!
