It's Earth Day!

Earth Day Blog Hop
Welcome to Create it Green’s Earth Day Blog Hop!! Thanks so much for joining us!

If you just happened by this blog and didn't realize a blog hop was taking place, please go back to Create it-GREEN and start the hop. You won't want to miss all the Earth Day Inspiration or the amazing prizes from our generous sponsors! Make sure you leave a comment on each blog on the hop since winners will be drawn from the comments!!

I have a few projects to share with you today, here at Lovingly Created by Ali....!!

The first two little projects will help explain something that our family does to be more GREEN while saving me a few footsteps at the same time!!

To be more "green," we sort and save ALL the paper that we can, in order that it can be recycled by the recycling program that exists in our area.

This is a small wicker container that we keep in the kitchen near the "desk" and telephone/mail area. I made a "Paper bin" sign for the area right above it using a cute and quirky digital image created especially for the Create it-GREEN Earth Day Blog Hop by  KLM Designs.

Sign for small recyclable paper bin

We use this container to place recyclable paper in as we sort the mail, flyers, school notices, etc... When we have a second, or when the bin gets full, the kids just empty it into our larger bin, which is lined with a blue bag, ready for recycling by the county!

Here is the sign my son Daniel (9) made for our large recyclable paper bin. Isn't it cute?  He used a Digital Stamp from Digital Delights to create this sign. The digital stamp was created especially for the Create it-GREEN Earth day Blog Hop and is called "Save our Forests!" What a cute Image. You can go HERE to check out more of the designs at Digital Delights.

Sign created by Daniel MacDonald, age 9

                                                               Get Well Soon card

I loved the CUTE little bear and his adorable mouse sidekick so much that I wanted to create another project with this Digital Delights image. So... I made a Get Well Soon card! I used my watercolour pencils to colour in the image, plus square and heart-shaped blue buttons from my button collection. The striped paper came from my stash of scraps. The little faux-bow in the upper right corner is made of a scrap strip of paper, almost too small to save! Yep- small but mighty! The cork lettering came from  Dollarama. I thought this card turned out pretty cute thanks to the adorable image from Digital Delights!

"Thinking of You" card

Next, I made a "Thinking of You"  card using an awesome Earth Day image of a flower-filled wheelbarrow created by a digital stamp company called Fred, she Said Designs  . By the way, the fabulous giant blue ric rac used on this card was from the brand new "April Skies Ribbon Kit" from the Savvy 'n Sassy store, where I am a DT member.

Next is a "Bon Voyage" card that I created with a cute digital image of a smiling, happy world, from Meljen's Designs.  I used my watercolour pencils here as well, and embellished with BasicGrey Ribbon and recycled buttons from my stash.

"Bon Voyage" Card

The Digi Shack provided us with 2 lovely mages for the Create it-GREEN Earth Day Blog Hop.

The first is this pretty butterfly, which I decided to use on a Mother's Day Card. I coloured the digital stamp with watercolour pencils, placed it on the card with 3-D Foam Tape, then embellished with bling and Stickles. The patterned paper is from BasicGrey's long-ago "Perhaps" collection. I just love the way it turned out!

"Butterfly" Happy Mother's Day Card

The second image from the Digi Shack is an Apple Barrel surrounded by autumn leaves. I created an autumn card with it after colouring the image with watercolour pencils. I used some My Mind's Eye papers from my scrap-paper bin. Some cork lettering was a great help in finishing it all off.

Autumn Wishes Card

Thanks so much for visiting my Blog!

The blog hop will run from today, April 22nd until Sunday, April 26th, midnight PST. We will be drawing for winners on April 27. I will be offering a RAK for one lucky commenter whose name will be drawn that day!!

SOS Scrappy Spring Clean-up Blog Hop & Crop!!

Hi Everyone! HAPPY SPRING! Although it says April 14th above, IGNORE THAT!! 'Cause it is April 15th-- Thursday!!!

Welcome to Lovingly Created, today's "hop" spot on the road of the Sisterhood of Scrap's Spring Blog Hop & Crop!!! Glad you stopped in!!!

If you did not arrive here from the
Sisterhood of Scrap Blog, please go back and check out the fun and prizes going on. Eight days of challenges to help you use up and clean up your scrappy supplies! The best part is, you have 1 week from the date that every challenge was posted to complete it and post a link to it on the blog where it was assigned to you! YES: a FULL week!!

So, that means my challenge to you TODAY (April 15th) is only due on April 22 (by midnight EST)!

Let's rock and roll, shall we?

My challenge to you today is simply to use a PUNCH in the completion of your LO.

Yes, do a LAYOUT and incorporate the use of a PUNCH.

The LO can be ANY size at all, ie: mini, 6x6, 12x12 or larger. BUT: you MUST use a punch somewhere on the project, and you have to tell me what punch you used.

#1: Here is my project... you can click on it to make i bigger and see the details. This is a LO of my parents-inlaw, my sister in law, and her 2 kiddos. (For internet safety, their faces are blurred.)

Supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Pale blue Velvet ribbon: from Savvy n Sassy- the SNS "April Skies" Ribbon Kit
Frame around photo; Free download: Tiffany Doodles, April 1 Blog post
Punch: "Key" - All Night Media
All Patterned papers: Cloud Nine Designs Finley's Estate Collection
Dye ink: Ink it up! by Darice

#2: Here is a close-up of the way I used this punch. It provided me with 2 SEPARATE semi-circular sections each time I punched. I used them separately and repeated the semi-circular motif all along the edges of my LO.

#3: This is a pic of "key" punch I used. It is manufactured by All Night Media.

Finally, thanks for visiting. Please post your creations in response to this challenge here in the comments section by Midnight April 22, 2010. Also, please become a Follower if you'd like to. There are actually 2 ways that you can get your layout in for this Challenge:

1 => Add a link to your project in the comments of this post
2 => Send it to us at SOS by email: sisterhood.of.scrap@gmail.com

I will randomly choose a name from those who complete this SOS Blog Hop and Crop: and send a RAK to the winner! Thanks everyone. Happy creating!

For our 15th Wedding Anniversary in 2007, Peter and I took what we call our "jaunt" thru parts of the Annapolis Valley. This has been home to us for quite a few years, and we had many placs we found photogenic and wanted to take photos of! So, to celebrate our anniversary, we did it! we had such a fun day together! Here are 2 of the layouts!

Old Holy Trinity Church, est 1789, Middleton, NS

The large pale blue pom-pom trim and the large ric-rac are from the "April Skies" Ribbon Kit at Savvy n Sassy. You can find that kit HERE. It's gorgeous!

This layout was done for a March "repetition" Challenge set by Holly, our Design Team Coordinator over at Savvy 'n Sassy. We were to repeat a shape more than 3 times.

Check out all the SNS March Challenges HERE. They are so much fun to do, and I guarantee you'll complete layouts!!

More layouts & cards to share!

"Shine: You got da power!"

Layout done for the Olympic crop at Sisterhood of Scrap!

OLYMPIC CHALLENGE: We were to include the word "power' in the LO's title. This is Daniel in 2006 at the "Tremont World's Fair," in tiny Tremont, NS. Kate was riding in competition that day with Oakley. She brought home a few ribbons!

Bright Macaw
Photo Credit: Patricia Gervais, my very sweet sister-in-law.
Location: Magnetic Hill Zoo, Moncton, NB.
This was a photo Trish sent me from 2006 or 2007. Isn't this Macaw beautiful!?
I love this photo, Trish!

This layout was created as a sample for the March Challenge I set at Savvy 'n Sassy where I am now part of the Design Team. My challenge can be found right here: Come see! Why not join in? All welcome! There are many March challenges to choose from- the whole Design AND Admin Team has joined in! Fun stuff. Lots of eye candy too.

I also did some more layouts & cards for friends and family members.
This layout was of my Aunt Carolyn (Dad's sister) and Uncle Richard, who live in the US. These are their grand-chilluns all ready for Christmas! They are so sweet! (These are my cousin Susan and her husband Chris' children.)

Christmas Smiles

The gigantic "C" and "S" in "Christmas Smiles" are Clay Artz monograms and the reindeer in the photo's upper right is a Clay Artz piece... from Creatively-Green , where I am working as a Design Team Member. I just love the way these look. So much fun! Perfect for this LO.
The flower is also from Creatively Green, as is the red Piggy Tales patterned paper! Be sure to check out all the GREEN crafting supplies available at the Creatively-Green Store...

Here's a fun Valentine card I made for one of the kids' teachers last month. Forgot to show it to you!

It is embellished with one of my "scruffy posies." Aren't they CUTE? They're made from old jeans!
Used bubble wrap dipped in white acrylic paint to create the pattern on the red paper.

The following 2 cards were done with a sketch by Ann Seleshanko at Savvy n Sassy in January. Patterned papers are from October Afternoon.

I sent this one to my friend Helen, in NB.

I sent this one to my Mom.

This layout is one of my own designs, of our "Anniversary Jaunt," thru the Annapolis Valley in August 2006 to take photos in celebration of our 15th year together. This old building has always intrigued me...

"Highway One"

100% Creatively-Green recycled cardstock in Imperial Blue, fancy felt flower, vintage-style skeleton keys, & patterned paper by "Piggy Tales"- all from Creatively-Green.

Thanks for stopping in to visit with me! Love to hear what you think!
