I decided that in 2021, I wanted them to have a little something from us every so often between our Sunday phone calls and decided on sending a handmade card every week or so, and including inside it a photo of our grand-daughters for them to enjoy. We have a new grand-daughter, 3 mos old, and a very darling 6 year old one too! My in-laws are photo fanatics, so sending the photos that my hubby printed out for them in handmade cards was a gift that made their hearts happy and warm.

They are such wonderful people.

Here is one of the cards I made for them in January. the snow with Uncle Bryan and the dogs. Using old Christmas cards and a punch, Lilia
even did some crafts. She was so proud of her artwork!

So happy you're here. It feels good to be back at blogging again. :) Hope 2021 has been safe and healthy for you and your family.

I'm not a gal who makes "New Year's resolutions," but I do set a few goals in my scrapping hobby. I think those are MUCH more fun!

One of the most important things on my "scrappy goal list" this year is to finish Daniel's first year album.

As many of you know, we have four kids--who are BIG KIDS, now! Daniel is our third child, and his is the last of the four baby albums to be completed. There is no reason for this, except maybe that Daniel had more toddler layouts made about him than any little kid on the planet! We used to call him "Dan-Dan Houdini-Man", so you get the idea. He was a hoot: a going- concern! That translated into lots of scrappy pages! ;)

Anyway, I have been working on Daniel's baby book now since 2017, when I wrote a great deal of the journaling and filed it in my computer. I also decided on a colour-scheme for the album, and made page kits to go with the pics I planned to use. I have quite a few pages done to date, and this is the latest. I still have many pages left to create. :)

While I am on the topic of accomplishing goals, I am taking a course called "SYS 2021: Mission Possible", from my CM friend Noreen Smith. The course's over-arching goal is using up stash. I am taking this further- using up the page kits I had made for this baby book!

This LO is a 2-pager that uses one of Noreen's SYS 2021 sketches. I am sooo pleased with how this turned out!

Here are the pages separately.
Left page:

And right page:

Journaling:

When Daniel was
10 months old, we moved from the PMQ on Base to our newly purchased home on XYZ Drive in Kingston. The bubblegum-pink bedroom that would be Daniel's was
quickly painted white. (That was our first "project" in the new
house!) The wallpaper border we put up in Daniel's new bedroom was the same one
we'd lovingly chosen and put up in his PMQ bedroom in July 2000 just before he
was born! Daniel's new bedroom was much larger than the tiny PMQ bedroom, and
here, there was space for more furniture. We were able to have Daniel's change-table
right there in the bedroom, which was extra-convenient. We were also able to
add a bookshelf, toy box and the rocking horse Grandma and Grandpa gave Bryan
when he was little.

The window was
a different shape than the one in the PMQ, but we were still able to use the
curtains I'd made-- I just sewed a little "bib" of matching fabric to
slide onto the rod, visually connecting the 2 panels. "Problem solved!"
In these photos, you can see Daniel's
matching handmade baby comforter plus the change table cover and mini-pillow
that I'd sewn. I'd had so much fun creating all of it!

The baby
bedroom we'd decorated for Daniel looked beautiful and had turned out exactly
the way we'd hoped it would. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">For this LO, I used a sheet of CTMH patterned paper with a subtle peacock feather design on it. I'd been hoarding it since September 2010, awaiting a "special" purpose. It's from the 2010 'Magnifique' collection! Well, in these Prom LOs, I'd say that this paper found its purpose!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Journaling was done on a scrap piece of CTMH Crystal Blue CS, using the Script MT Bold font.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The "lovely" lettered banner pieces were from a set of CTMH embellishments for the 'Balloon Ride' collection. That paper collection was released in 2014. :)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The turquoise sequins came from the more recent CTMH 'Florence' (2016) collection.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Brads "bashed" included traditional round brads from CTMH and Bazill, plus musical notes (from HOTP) and silver star brads (unknown source).
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The large musical note was created by my scrappy/crafty friend Pam Sandy ages ago. She and her spouse had a small powdercoat business at the time and made a variety these for sale. I had been hoarding this, too, just waiting for the perfect layout to use it on! I added some black Waxy Flax for the top of this embellie as there was a hole there
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The acetate music transparency was created by Hambly. (I miss them!) I just cut what I needed, as I needed it, from a larger sheet. I only have a small piece of this left now! I secured it to the LO with tiny CTMH brads.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The old Victrola was a "Thank you" sticker I had purchased as part of a set at Dollarama. I cannot tell you how long ago THAT was! LOL I cut the "THANK YOU" part off, and used the sticker without it. I just tucked the sticker into the cluster. It seemed perfect there!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Flowers used came from my stash (I think they were all from Prima!)

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I also added a few tiny black tendrils peeking out from under the flowers. These are rub-ons from Bazzill- would you believe the date on the package says 2006?? LOL!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">For this LO, I bashed a very special piece of paper from the 'Magnifique' collection, which was released by CTMH in 2010. I felt that Kelsey's beautiful Prom gown 'deserved' to be set off by this stunning peacock paper!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used Stickles in Mermaid,Turquoise and Diamond to accentuate the peacock's plumage. The Diamond Stickles are a fave of mine as they reflect any colour that they have been applied over!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I also used up another Bazzill chipboard key and used Copics to colour it. I tied it off with some black Waxy Flax.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Then, I layered a small metal key over the chipboard one and added some flowers, brads and gemstones/sequins to the cluster.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I finished the page with a wood veneer arrow that pointed to Kelsey and Bryan's picture and <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">said "Love it"<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">.
the graduates arrived at the Annapolis Mess for Prom 2014, they had their photo
taken in a special area that had been set up and decorated just for this. The
photographer even edited the photos and layered the words "West Kings Prom 2014" over
one of the columns in a very classy way so these memories could be saved and
easily identified. Having those words on the column made the photo even more
"valuable" in terms of it's use for memory-keeping.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This LO features lots of satisfying "stash-bashing"!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here is what I was able to "bash" today, just on this LO!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">For the banners,I used CTMH scraps from the 'For Always' and 'Florence' collections, plus a scrap of CTMH's Black CS. I just LOVE banners as they are a great way to use up scraps!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I had larger left-over pieces of Black and Slate CTMH CS and used them to mat some of the photos. Some left-over pieces of Crystal Blue were used for the journaling.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A full sheet of CTMH paper from the 'Ariana' collection was used as the background.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">and I even used part of the zip-strip from that same sheet. I saved the last little bit-- no doubt it will come in handy!

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The embellishment cluster you see on the lower left of the page incorporates items from K&Co., Bazzill, and CTMH.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here is a close-up shot of the cluster:

Embellishment cluster

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The flowers were from my stash- some came from Prima. I fussy-cut the teal coloured globe from a sheet of SU! patterned paper. The brads on the flowers were from Bazzill and CTMH.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The tiny roll of film was stamped using CTMH's C1440, a set called "Take a picture". After I stamped it in Pacifica ink on Crystal Blue CS, I cut it out.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The Bazzill chipboard key was coloured with a Copic marker- B26 'Cobalt Blue', and tied with black CTMH Waxy Flax.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The chipboard bird embellie was from the CTMH Skylark collection.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The sparkly turquoise stars are from a current CTMH embellishment kit.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here's how "old" some of my pretties were when I "bashed" through them:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">'Waxy Flax' was from Autumn 2012 (CTMH)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">'For Always' was from Spring 2013 (<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">CTMH)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">'Ariana' was from WInter 2014 (CTMH)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">'Skylark' was from Winter 2014 (CTMH)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">'Florence' was from Summer 2016 (CTMH)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hope you've enjoyed seeing all this stash-bashing and creating!! I'm really happy to be well on the way to getting all these prom photos scrapped!

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Have a great day- see you again soon!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This LO was created using some papers and a zip-strip from the CTMH "For Always" collection. I pressed some never-used CTMH stamps into service as well. Those stamps were from a set called "This Moment" which was the CTMH Stamp of the Month set from January 2015.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The CS is "Crystal Blue" from CTMH. I was excited when I saw how this matched the turquoise-y blue in Kelsey's dress (see other Prom photo LOs for a view of her dress)! It also matched the turquoise tie that came WITH the gown. She had given it to Bry in time for Prom! I'm also lovin' the round wooden heart embellie which was part of a black glitter Fundamental Assortment. The epoxy bubbles were from some very old CTMH stash!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">So happy to be using things up.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have shared this LO with the Bash your Stash FB group. It's a great place to gain some incentive to use up those wonderful items that may be sitting neglected in your collection of scrappy supplies!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I am entering this LO in the July Love to Scrap Challenge Blog's "Anything goes" Challenge. the rules of this challenge blog state that no matter what the challenge, your entries MUST include stamping. I was so excited to be able to use those new stamps, and having a challenge that incorporates stamps was just the ticket! Why not join in?
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Enough chattering! I am so happy with the way this turned out.
This all happened in 2014, so it was high time!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I got his Graduation ceremony and our little family after-party all scrapbooked and have started on the Prom layouts. Bry went with a friend and we got some lovely photos with Dad's "spiffy camera"!!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I created a page about Bryan's Prom for a challenge that I heard about from my friend Lori, who had posted about it on her blog. Thanks Lori!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This month, it's a challenge where "Anything goes" and it's Challenge #99 on the "Love to Scrap Challenge Blog", or LTSCB.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">All entries in the challenge must include some stamping.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This was right up my alley as I have lots of beautiful My Acrylix stamps from CTMH that I am trying to incorporate more in my scrappin'. So here is my Prom page-- including stamping, for the "Anything Goes" Challenge #99 at LTSCB!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">To be sure I included the required stamping for challenges at LTSCB, I went thru all my CTMH stamps and found an older, now retired, set called "Take a picture"- C1440. In it, I found the photo frame corners, and the circle that says "A picture is worth 1000 words". I was happy to find the perfect one-word title, too:"Click" !
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used CTMH's Thistle ink for the circle stamp, and Peacock ink for the title and photo frame corners. It turned out really well and I am so happy!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used up some stash too!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The folks over at the Bash your Stash FB group are really encouraging and celebrate right along with you when you manage to "bash" a few items from your scrap stash! Come join the fun at the Bash your Stash FB group.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The flowers and brads have been in my stash for ages and have now found a home on a LO, as have some of the Dollarama $2 turquoise-coloured adhesive gemstones. The pennants used in my banner also came from my "CTMH-scrappy stash", but they aren't as old as everything else I used here.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The patterned papers are from older CTMH collections- the blue background sheet and the two blue patterned cards on the right of the photo are from the Florence collection.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The black snakeskin textured paper is from Laughing Lola, another CTMH collection from ages ago.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The beautiful dark teal banner was made from paper that came from the more recent Swan Lake CTMH paper collection.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Journaling:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Bryan
and Kelsey had another photo taken in one of the "photo opp" areas
that had been set up for Prom-goers at the Annapolis Mess. The lighting in this
area really accentuated the deep, rich colour of Kelsey's dress!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Most of you know I love a clean look for my Christmas cards. I kept it very simple this month and used my Big Shot, too! (I haven't told you this yet, but one of my SB'ing goals for 2017 was to use my tools more-- and to get into the habit of reaching for them as I worked!)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I am very happy with the way this turned out and love the clean and simple look, too! I made a trio of these cards, and it was very satisfying to have them all done and put away for Christmas in December!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I SOMEHOW had the wrong date written on my Design Team assignment and almost didn't make the deadline for this sketch!! I was horrified at the mistake I'd made on the due date! With <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">a little encouragement from Michelle, (bless her) I was on my way.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I created a card using some very special paper from the BasicGrey "Oh Baby! Girl" collection, which I have had in my stash forever. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I LOVE LOVE LOVE the paper I used as a background for this card and decided to really let it shine. It's one of the last pieces of this collection that I had left over, just a scrap, but... Oh, I just love it so much!! There is still a teensy bit of it left, and I will use it on something special-- probably a scrapbook layout that tells yet another family story. (I actually used a larger piece of this beautiful paper on a very special LO right before Christmas. I promise I will show that to you soon-- in another post!!)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here's my card!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used the sketch as my "jumping-off point" for this card. As you can see, I didn't follow it exactly. But that's what sketches are "for"-- to act as inspiration!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I decided to create a "Thanks" card as I was in woefully short supply of those. They're very handy... Plus I got to use a brand new CTMH stamp!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Just look at the wonderful sketch that Michelle Stewart created for us at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge this week!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As soon as I saw it, I thought it'd be an awesome sketch to use for a layout!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I was creating two albums for my parents and parents-in-law as a Christmas gift. In them, I displayed photos of their first Great-Grandbaby, Lilia, and I wanted them to have a place to display a pic of Lilia on her first Christmas: Dec 25, 2016.

So... here's what I created using this wonderful sketch:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">Layout created using AHSC Sketch #191

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I flipped the sketch 1/4 turn to the left to create this layout. I used CTMH's beautiful Glacier cardstock and a CTMH ink called Crystal Blue. These pair up beautifully with CTMH's Cranberry cardstock and ink!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The paper collections I used on this layout are retired now. They are Snowhaven and White Pines.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The red hearts were from CTMH and so were the shiny silver puffy stickers. The red gemstones came from Dollarama ages ago.<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> I used my Nouveau font and Big Shot to cut out the title lettering for "BABY's".
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

I will mail the photo of Lilia out to them so they can complete to layout. :)

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Thanks so much for coming by to see my creation. I really hope you like the page I designed using this sketch and can come play along at AHSC this week! Here are the guidelines for joining in!

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I created a couple of cards with this sketch but the CTMH 'Sparkle and Shine' paper collection with its beautiful shimmer doesn't capture well in photos. One of the cards I created does give a fairly good impression and you can discern the overall 'look' of the card, if not every BIT of the shimmery shine!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here you go!

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used CTMH papers from the "Sparkle and Shine" collection for this card. The cardstock used is Ruby. I added an angel from my stash and a lovely single pointsettia flower that I found hidden away. It already had a pearl centre-- so pretty!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Some CTMH shimmer trim in Aqua and a silver "Playful Puffie" flower helped complete the look. :) The greeting that I used is a brand new mini stamp set from CTMH (M1148). I think the "Merry Christmas" looks perfect on the Slate cardstock. Kind of a pretty, classic greeting- I love it.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have three more cards to finish that are along the same lines as this one. Each is a teensy bit different though. I just can't make the same card twice! LOL For those cards, I used the more classic side of the Christmas paper.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I really hope you like the card and can come play along at AHSC this week! Here are the guidelines for joining in!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> Seen you soon!
This month, our assignment was to create a card or project that included Santa Claus or an elf!!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">OK, how fun is that!? I love Deanne's challenges at CCAYR. She is our leader and owner of the blog, and she always sets up such great challenges!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I am first and foremost a scrapbooker, and since ALL types of Christmas projects are encouraged on the CCAYR blog, I'd wanted to create a layout that had Santa on it. Darn it, though, time got away from me a bit!! As an alternative, I created a four new cards instead, all similar in design to the Christmas card below:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">"Merry Christmas" card
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: small;">created for the November 2016 CCAYR challenge

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This card features almost entirely CTMH products.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The patterned papers came from the new "City Sidewalks" collection, and t<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">he decorative zip strip on the left side of the card also came from this paper collection. :)<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The cardstock is Sapphire. What a gorgeous blue!!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I used a stamp set which is a retired Stamp of the Month set from August 2015 called "Framed" (S1508). I've used it a lot as it's so versatile!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">CTMH water-based dye inks used are: Cranberry and Indian Corn Blue (retired).
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The sparkly blue dots are from CTMH as well: part of a package of Enamel and Glitter Duos.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I decorated the strip on the left with "Diamond" Stickles from Ranger. Sure wish you could see the shimmer!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The sweet Santa Claus you see here is a royalty free image from The Graphics Fairy.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hope you've enjoyed this card! I made 3 others that are similar-- but each has it's own "look". I am so happy with the way they turned out. Four more cards all made for this Christmas! Awesome!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Are YOU getting in the Christmas spirit? <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Why not harness that feeling and try the November CCAYR "Santa or elf" challenge? <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> Here is the new sketch:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have created something that could be used as a classy anniversary or wedding card. I decided to use something "iconic" as an embellishment rather than having a sentiment on the front. This way, I could add the sentiment on the inside when the need for a card came up. As you can see, I chose to use three puffy hearts on the front of the card.
I'm really happy with the way this card turned out!!

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">was able to use up some snazzy gold Bazzil cardstock and a small piece of CTMH's Laughing Lola collection patterned paper for the card itself. I used a piece of gold shimmer trim, some gold heart-shaped Treasured Puffies (both from CTMH), and some black and gold lace from my stash to accent the card. The red circle was punched from patterned paper I'd saved/hoarded from an old (2004?) scrapbooking calendar. The gold circle framing the red was from a set of "Irresistibles" frames (CTMH) and I used some gold "Smooch" ink (Clearsnap) on the white frame to give it the golden colour I needed.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">You can't see it, but inside the card is a small glittery gold heart from the CTMH Fundamental Assortment. (I just loved this beautiful Assortment and I bought it in too many colours to count!!)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Hope you enjoyed this card. I had fun using the AHSC sketch to make it!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Please feel free to try the sketch and link up your creation so we can see it too.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It's so nice to see you.
<span style="font-family: "arial";">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This week at Atlantic Hearts, Michelle has created a new sketch for us to play with.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here it is:

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I must say, I thought this would be a hard one, but as soon as I decided to create a horse-themed card, the process flew like the wind. LOL! Gotta love that! I also got to use some of my fave CTMH paper collection to make this card. It's called "Urban", and I love how the paper has such a textured look to it!
<span style="font-family: "arial";">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here is what I created:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This was the final card I needed to add to our Autism Centre's current supply of Thank You cards. I volunteered to make all the cards they needed, and asked them to give me a "number", which they did. :) Our communities here in the Annapolis Valley have been awesome and there are many people who deserve to be thanked for supporting our Centre's work. What better than a handmade card? <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It's been a pleasure to do it, and I hope they ask me again!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This month, our fearless leader at CCAYR, Deanne, asked us to create cards using a "little or a lot" of orange! (Orange is her favourite colour.)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">What a true challenge, but perfect for a fall month like October, but WOW- Orange!!? For Christmas??
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here is what I came up with!! I am so pleased with this card. I actually made two for my card stash, with each a tad bit different from the another. I cannot create two cards the same, you know! **wink** LOL
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I decided to create a card for Pete's parents in New Brunswick cause it's their wedding anniversary later this month.

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have been so busy the past few months, I'd barely gotten ahead with my family cards, but this one is ready with over a week's notice. (I am so sad that BasicGrey is gone... many scrappers are.) :(
I will miss BasicGrey. Will you?

<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The cardstock I used is "Saddle" by CTMH. Such a versatile colour! <span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The banners were also small scrap pieces of the "Curio" paper. Gotta love scraps!
<span style="background-color: white; color: #333333; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The beautiful little cottage image, which I popped up with foam tape, was a freebie from the Graphics Fairy. She has posted both a birthday greeting cottage and a plain cottage. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Well, I made two cards for this challenge and realized after I'd made the first one and taken the pics for my blog that there was an ink splotch on the card. It really isn't "bad" but it just bothered me so much! So, after helping my second son (third child), Daniel, work on his driver's ed chapters, I created another card. It was much more fun than studying ROAD SIGNS! LOL
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">And luckily, the AHSC card sketch sure was an easy one to work with.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">For the sake of sharing, I will post both cards here, though.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Here is the second card I made with this wonderful sketch. (This is the one WITHOUT an ink splotch! )
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">It is to create a Christmas card, layout, or other papercraft item in a Shabby Chic OR Monochromatic OR Vintage style.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Yes-- even though the CCAYR blog's title references Christmas cards, ALL types of Christmas papercrafted items are welcome, as long as they fit into the challenge!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">So, create a card or a paper craft following the monthly challenge and upload your creations to your blog, a gallery, or photo bucket.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">With the CCAYR September challenge in mind. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I decided to go toward the shabby chic/vintage end of things, and created this card:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The image of the bearded man carrying a small tree while riding a horse always reminds me of an old fashioned Father Christmas. The wooden block stamp I used for this card was made by Magenta, which is a Canadian company. It was gifted to me by another crafter who knew I loved stamps related to horses and riding, and knew I always had a hard time finding them! She purchased this one as part of a bulk stamp buy she'd made at a yard sale. When I asked if I could buy it from her. She gave it to me! I just love this stamp. One year, I made ALL my Christmas cards using it! :) I love the way the stamped image has that "dreamy " quality.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I found the link for the stamp after searching a few minutes (the wonder of Google!), and it's actually called St. Nicholas! :) Guess I was right.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The patterned paper (including the zip strip), cardstock, and scroll-work stamp I used were ALL CTMH items.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">All inks were from CTMH, including the Sapphire ink I used to stamp the elegant scroll-work.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I accented the card using some tiny blue crystals I'd had left over from another scrapbooking project. <span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I popped up the matted St. Nicholas image using foam squares.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I really like the way this turned out. Another Christmas card for the "December pile".
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Thanks so much for coming by to visit! I'd love to see what you'll create using this fantabulous CCAYR September Challenge!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">My daughter's friend is getting married in November, and there was a wedding shower this weekend! Kate needed a card for this event, so I offered to make one for her. I flipped the sketch 1/4 turn to the right and h<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">ere's what I came up with...

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This card used a variety of items from my stash, both new, and older!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The paper is from CTMH's "Flirty" collection.It's really an old favourite of mine and I am hoarding the last wee bits of it. Oh how I WISH I had bought more! LOL
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Except for the card's base, the cardstock pieces were all scraps of CTMH CS in various shades.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The card base is made of Grey Flannel cardstock. That colour has been retired. I love the softness of it. :)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Two stamps were used for the flowers & leaves:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Rosy Regards: B1369 (retired)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Several of CTMH's beautiful water-based dye inks were used to make this card:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Flowers:
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Pixie

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I fussy cut the floral sprays, leaves, roses and apple blossoms using my CTMH micro-tipped scissors in addition to my Cutterbee scissors.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">The "Congratulations" sentiment was from a wooden block stamp by Anita's Sugarloaf Designs that I purchased in 2008. (This is an older stamp: it says 2002 on the label).
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Additionally, I popped up the main floral accent on the bottom floral grouping. I think it adds more interest.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I really hope you like this card. It was a little labour intensive on the fussy-cutting end of things, but it was well worth it for my daughter's friend. (I find it very relaxing to fussy-cut!)
