A Beautiful Garden

"One of the things that’s most fun about summer for our family is taking care of our garden and watching our beautiful perennials in their cycle of greening, growing and blooming. The Shasta daisies and the day lilies in these pictures are two colourful sights in our front garden. It’s such a treat every year for our family when they bloom and turn their faces toward the warm sun!! Garden photos~ July 2006"

July 2007 note: I am thrilled to tell you that these photos are pretty much identical to the growth of the daisies and lillies we have in our front garden this year too.

Our perennials came from our parents, Peter and I send our biggest thanks to you all.

Here are 2 views of one of my latest projects. This is an altered box. It's a plastic box from Dollarama that's been transformed~!! I absolutely LOVE it! I keep my chipboard inside it on my desk. Isn't it gorgeous?
Daisy d's Gypsy Harvest Morroccan Floral~Persimmon patterned paper was applied to box top using "Podge!" (gloss) by Orient.

Deep brown satin ribbon (Atlantic Fabrics) used to edge the box just beneath the cording.
Underside of box was covered in soft burgundy craft foam (which cannot be seen in photo.)

Sensory Input!

FEEL: These 2 pix were taken in our garden last May (2006). Noah loves the feel of the sun on his face and the cool sensation & texture of grass on his cheek. Can you tell? Look at that sweet happy face! Noah has Autism Spectrum Disorder and seeks out input to help him make sense of the world. The looks on his face tell us how much he enjoys the input he's discovered! Imagine experiencing the world this way! Hope you like it, and thanks for looking.

I used Fiskars vellum paper and Podge (Orient brand) to cover the glass in several coats, then applied ric-rac (Imagine that! brand) and lettering (BasicGrey Fusion line) to say "Pretty." fun and useful!

A creative recycling idea!!

This is sooooooo funny. I needed a small ironing board in my scraproom, so I made one from the old fabric highchair pad (no more highchairs here) and a piece of mahogany that Pete had finished in Shop class many moons ago in high school. I covered the wood with a piece of the high chair pad I'd made, Dh stapled it well, and-- Presto!!! A great ironing board! Too funny and SO USEFUL and small- easy to store. Iron was on special at Zellers. I love the shape and size of it too. ENJOY! Happy Canada Day!
