Only you...

That's a new one from me using the April SBCH Kit. Love this photo! Hope you like it. (I have it framed in my bedroom in black and white, too... one of the only pics of me and my sweet Kate together!) :o)

PS: Hehehe, love the buttons in that kit, Nicole!

Journaling reads:

Only you…

Kate, you are my only girl, my only daughter. Coming from a family with 3 girls, one where my Dad was always outnumbered, I guess I always figured that having more than one daughter was the norm! When I had you in 1994, I never suspected that you’d be the only baby girl Daddy and I would ever have. It just makes you more special, more valued than ever. You’re the only girl; my special girl!

A Birthday Card for my Sister....

A birthday card done with Scenic Route patterned paper, Sandylion Puffy Alphas and BasicGrey Velvet Rickrack. The ink is from "Ink it up!" in Turquoise. The corner punch is by Fiskars and is called "Heritage."

Born to catch Dragons...

This page was done with the eye-catching "3 Bugs in a Rug" Chalk Garden Collection. There was a fair bit of hand-cutting involved. LOVE doing that!

This was done for a quote challenge over at SBCH. Come see what the other girls did! http://www.scrapbookersclubhouse.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7114&start=0

Journaling is on the back of layout and reads: This photo was taken at the GHRC in Autumn 2007 at a Fall Riding Challenge Kate was entered in, on “Impulse” also known as “Imp…” a Welsh pony cross. Daniel is 7 years old here. He is wearing a fleece jacket that his Oma made. Daniel had made friends with a big doggie who was at the GHRC show with his owner. The dog had an injured back leg and had had surgery. Some sort of ligament thing...pretty major, but he was mobile and doing well. Anyway, if you look closely at the picture, you can see the dog's back leg is in a plastic bag (protecting the cast he had!!) It was a bit damp that day. The dog was very friendly: I spoke with the owner before letting Daniel go over to sit with him. Daniel sat for ages in the grass with his new friend. :o) I love this photo.

Journaling by Mom (Ali)
March 9, 2008.

Poem handwritten on strips of patterned paper reads:

I was born to catch dragons in their dens
And pick flowers
To tell tales and laugh away the morning
To drift and dream like a lazy stream
And walk barefoot across sunshine days.

-James Kavanaugh

A doggie-story to remember...

A selection of Crate Paper was used here as well as ribbon & rickrack from Atlantic Fabrics. TY Pam for the "Woof Woof" brown grosgrain ribbon! Buttons from Frenchy's vintage button bin. Lettering is BasicGrey.

Journaling reads:

Lucie-Honey’s Story

Lucie came to us from Rohan Wood Stable where she had been abandoned at the end of the driveway before Christmas 2006. The Cues had taken good care of her and looked for her owners through every possible means, to no avail. They named her “Lucie” as she had been found “Loose” at the end of the driveway. We adopted her in January.

Bless her heart; she became “my” dog, following me everywhere. She was quite attached to me, & even seemed worried if I went out. We discovered that her “real” name was probably “Honey” because Kate emphatically announced, when introducing Lucie to Grandma (my Mom,) that “She looks like honey: her colour!! Honey should have been her name.” Well, the poor dog went CRAZY. It was so obvious that Honey was her true name! I now call her “Lucie-Honey.” Can you imagine being abandoned with no way to tell anyone your name or where you came from? How totally AWFUL! This dog was definitely NOT a stray…she was calm, had perfect manners, knew all the usual commands, was well-cared for and very much a people-dog. I feel that she may have belonged to a senior citizen, likely a woman. The senior perhaps had to move to receive a higher level of care and the family told her that they’d found Honey a home. Then they dropped her off. Farms here have a good reputation for caring for animals left at their doorstep. It’s sad that ANYONE would do such a thing. I have a strong feeling that’s what happened. Thank God the Cues are the kind folks that they are so that Lucie-Honey could find her way to us.
