Sisterhood of Scrap Saturday Sketch Challenge!

YAY! I got a challenge done tonight! Here is my "take" on the SOS June 13th sketch (created by Deanne Burton).

Thanks for a GREAT sketch.
Thanks to my friend Pam for the "Daniel" script and the flowers, and also thanks to my friend Shannon for the red/burgundy felt flower!

Hope you like it!

Journaling: While we camped in Five Islands, NS on our way home from PEI, you and your sibs all had some free time and the chance to relax and play in the sun. Daddy and I took a walk and got some very cool pictures of you enjoying the day!

Some new creations!!!

Some new cards and a Layout to share with you!

It's that time of year again... we have the chance to thank the ones who have taken the time to give our children wings, helping them learn and grow, and keeping them safe.

I made cards for our wonderful teachers, Suz (Noah) and Rachel (Daniel) ... plus Noah's Resource Teacher, Danielle. There are also cards for Noah's educational asssistants (EAs), Sandy and Michelle, in addition to his "Bus Buddy" EA, Nannette. Another person who deserved to be thanked was Linda, who is a friend & a very special person to us. She is Noah's EA at lunch time.

These cards were all created using a brand new card sketch by Deanne Burton (June 6-09), and posted at SISTERHOOD of SCRAP.
We simply cannot forget our wonderful bus drivers and the school office staff members who keep our children safe during travel and help things run so smoothly at our wonderful elementary school. Here are two of the cards I made for them.
It's been fun making all these cards! Hope you don't mind reading on a bit!

Just above is a Congrats (baby girl) card I created using Deanne Burton's June 20-09 card sketch over at SISTERHOOD of SCRAP. I LOVE this card! Thanks for checking it out!

EXCITING, FOND MEMORY!

Here is a layout I did for a Challenge over @ Sisterhood of Scrap. Deanne and her sisters challenged us to scrapbook a "Fond Memory."

This amazing climbing by Noah at the playground at Five Islands, NS in 2006 is SUCH a fond memory for Peter and me.
Have a wonderful Friday everyone! :o)

Two awesome days!

Peter and I were so excited when my online scrapbooking friend Maggi and her husband Dick came for a visit in the motorhome, on their way thru NS from North Carolina!! They were on vacation and we were able to have them here with us for a cpl days while they toured the Valley. Pete had leave and we enjoyed the time with our guests! We had so much in common, it was unreal.

Here are pics I took of Maggi, Dick & Peter out on the deck- so humid yesterday! 31 degrees C -- [about 94 degrees F] with the Humidex factored in- so unusual here!

In this pic, Peter was BBQ'ing the BEST chicken EVER and we were out on the deck--enjoying the wine Maggi and Dick had brought us! Teehee...Enjoy the pics- more to come!

Maggi and Dick have been wonderful guests, we hope they'll be back!!

A quote...

The white light streams down to be broken up by those human prisms into all the colors of the rainbow. Take your own color in the pattern and be just that.

I loved this quote and had to share it with you all today ...~

Great News!!!!

Hi Everyone!!

Just found out that along with 4 other new gals, I've made the Design Team [DT] at Christmas Cards All Year 'Round blog site!! Here's the link to the announcement.

I am absolutely thrilled!

Here are the cards I created for this DT Call... one is a card I learned to make over at Scrapbooker's Club House when I was on their DT 'way back when. :o)

This card is actually a folder-style Christmas card containing a decorated cardstock square upon which a greeting can be written. Patterned papers & CS in non-traditional colours of cream, melon, gold and burnt orange were used on this card, taking inspiration from the CCAYR blog's new background and header. Lots of Stickles were used to make the "bling!"

Here's the outside...

and here's the inside!

The second card was a pop-up Angel card. I sooooo love angels! The card is done in shades of light turquoise-y blue and cream Basic Grey from the Figgy Pudding Collection. Two views of this card are included. Turquoise letters were coated in "Glossy Accents" and then Crystal Stickles were used to accent the Christmas trees and details of the star at the top of the card.

Inside is a small pop-up angel, created in white cardstock with wings and dress accented with Diamond Stickles.
This card also took its' inspiration from the new CCAYR Blog header.

Here is the front of the card!

And, here is my pop-up Angel, on the inside! The paper is distressed-looking (as BasicGrey often is), so that's why you see some creamy-beige colour on the turquoise.

Hope you've enjoyed these cards. I had a blast making them!!

AN INVITATION:

Please join us for the JUNE Challenge over on the CCAYR blog. Looks like fun!

Every month we're making the effort to do FIVE cards.

Each month, share your cards with us via your blog or a Gallery and be entered in a draw for a cool prize! Not only that, but just think... we have 7 months (pretty much) left in 2009. If you do up/create just 5 cards per month, you'll have a stash of 35 Christmas cards all ready to roll!

How easy is that? Easy-peasy! Come by and see what's up, even if you aren't making cards. You're always welcome. Tell all your friends, too!

Thanks for sharing my excitement and have a GREAT weekend!

RIP Ocean

Our beautiful doggie, Ocean (AKA Ocean Commotion) went to heaven on June 4, 2009. Thank You to Darlene Millett and Dr. Bruce Bowker for their caring advice and listening, and to Dr. Bowker for his gentleness.
When something can't be "healed" it's always right to do what's right.
"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." - Mahatma Ghandi

Rest easy, buddy. We'll miss you.

Thanks everyone...

Kate is a GREAT big 'sis to her 3 brothers. This whole LO is done with Basic Grey patterned papers from various collections: Lucky, Sugared and Phoebe.

Journaling reads:

Big Sister

Kate, this picture is so gently amazing to your Daddy and me! We lit a “#5”candle on Noah’s donut, which is a fun tradition we started just for him. When we look at this 2007 photo of you and Noah, we can see that not only are you physically close by, you’re also watchful of his safety. You are so wonderful!
We love you, big sister. Noah loves you too, even though it’s harder for him to tell you that in words.

Donut Decorator

April 2007: Noah turning 5- and a fun tradition- he loves Boston cream donuts but usually cannot have them due to the wheat and milk content.
On his b'day, in addition to his cake, he can have a donut!
He liked to decorate it, as you can see in this pic! LOL
He is such a cutie patootie: Still is! My baby...

Way to go!

Journaling reads:

Noah, it's obvious from your expression that the slide is super-exciting & brings you great joy! For us, this is a joy, too... to see you climb up, settle in and then slide down tells us some very positive things about your physical, and in some ways, cognitive, development. Way to Go, Noah!

My Mom in 1999~ with Kate and Bryan

I completed a LO last night! More photos salvaged from an old sticky album!

This is based on Deanne Burton's new 12x12" LO sketch for June 1 on her "Just my Sketches" site. Link: http://a-scrapaddicts-sketches.blogspot.com/2009/06/sketch-reveals-june-1st.html
Here is my Mom, (Grandma) and the 2 eldest kiddos Kate, then almost 5 yo, and Bryan, 3 1/2 yo at my sister Mary's house.

Here is the layout:

TIDBIT!! This one came together super fast Thanks to Deanne's sketch! Sketches help speed the process & reduce frustration!

Things that make me feel good abt creating this LO:

1- Used hoarded Imaginisce paper (SBCH)

2- Melded older pp's with smthg new (the floral pp)

3- Used OLD pics rescued from a sticky album!

4- Flowers are from dollar store, cut from paper (medallion) and from Prima, all mixed tog! LOL and I LOVE the effect!

5- ZERO frustration!

Thanks for looking!
