On our "15th Anniversary Jaunt" (as we've affectionately dubbed it) in August 2007, Peter and I went on a road trip one day and took photos of everything we'd always WANTED to, but hadn't!
We went along the valley doing this, but not surprisingly, some of the MOST gorgeous sites were right here in our HOME town area of Kingston- or in nearby Aylesford. We folowed the #1 Highway, which is called the "Old highway" around here, and the LOs below are some of the results, completed in the last couple of months.

Journaling reads:
This abandoned barn made me wonder…
What kind of animals lived on this farm?
Were there any horses?
Did the family make a decent living?
Was there a barn-raising?
Was there a farmhouse here?
What was the row of small windows for?
When did the farm become abandoned?
Do others realize how picturesque this is?

Poem by Chief Dan George
And My Heart Soars
The beauty of the trees,
the softness of the air,
the fragrance of the grass,
speaks to me.
The summit of the mountain,
the thunder of the sky,
the rhythm of the sea,
speaks to me.
The faintness of the stars,
the freshness of the morning,
the dew drop on the flower,
speaks to me.
The strength of fire,
the taste of salmon,
the trail of the sun,
And the life that never goes away,
They speak to me.
And my heart soars.

Journaling reads:
We took a jaunt through favourite parts of the Annapolis Valley
the weekend of our 15th Wedding Anniversary. On the way to Kingsport, this old barn
caught our attention.
Rough, weather-worn shingles
Peeling paint
Coloured panes in dusty windows
Handmade slatted wooden doors
Rusty hinges
Gaps where critters had sought refuge
Pathways overgrown by thick grass
A few flagstones still peeking through.
Immeasurable rough-hewn beauty
